We finally have real evidence, but two games of evidence can convince bettors they know far more than they actually do. Miami has scored 122 points in two games. Alabama just pulled away from Kentucky by four touchdowns. LSU is undefeated and now heads into the emotional furnace of Oxford with Lane Kiffin returning to the program he turned into a national contender. The temptation is obvious: find the impressive team and keep betting it. These college football Week 3 predictions take the opposite approach. The important question is not which team looked best last Saturday. It is how much of that performance sportsbooks have already built into the next number. Bettors shopping those prices can compare options through the best offshore sportsbooks guide before committing to an early-week line. Week 3 Odds Show Three Very Different Market Problems The board has already changed from the earliest numbers. Miami opened around -19.5 against Wake Forest and is now available from roughly -20.5 to -22.5, depending on the sportsbook. Alabama opened around -15.5 against Florida State and has moved toward -17.5, with +18.5 available at some shops. LSU-Ole Miss is even stranger: one consensus board flipped from Ole Miss -1.5 to LSU -2.5, while other books still show Ole Miss favored. Matchup Current Market Total Betting Lean Prediction Miami at Wake Forest MIA -20.5 to -22.5 52.5–54.5 Miami -20.5 or better Miami 38, Wake 17 Florida State at Alabama BAMA -17.5 50.5 FSU +18 or better Alabama 31, FSU 17 LSU at Ole Miss Market varies around ±2.5 58.5 LSU +2.5 if available LSU 31, Ole Miss 27 The betting questions are different enough to make this more than a favorites column: Miami: Has two weeks of offensive dominance pushed the Hurricanes beyond a comfortable road price? Alabama: Is the Tide improvement real enough to lay nearly three scores against a desperate Florida State team? LSU-Ole Miss: When sportsbooks cannot even agree on the favorite, should bettors chase LSU or hunt for the plus number? Miami-Wake Forest: Three Touchdowns Is the Line in the Sand Miami has earned its hype. The Hurricanes followed a 45-6 win at Stanford with a 77-7 demolition of Florida A&M, scoring on 11 of their first 12 possessions. Darian Mensah completed 14 of 15 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns, while Miami held FAMU to 107 total yards. Miami’s 77-7 performance That is exactly how a team becomes expensive quickly. Miami opened around -19.5 against Wake Forest, and some shops have already climbed beyond three touchdowns. The difference between -20.5 and -22.5 matters because this is Miami’s first true road test since the opener, and Wake Forest does not need to threaten an upset to ruin a Hurricanes ticket. The matchup still favors Miami heavily. Mensah has been efficient, Malachi Toney gives the offense an explosive matchup problem, and Miami’s defensive front has controlled the run. But there is a price where supporting Miami becomes paying for the highlights you already watched. Betting lean: Miami -20.5 or better Prediction: Miami 38, Wake Forest 17 At -22.5, I would rather pass than chase. Florida State-Alabama: The Number Is Lower Than the Narrative Florida State’s season already feels considerably more stressful than it did two weeks ago. The Seminoles lost 27-24 to SMU despite rushing for 199 yards. The more troubling number was through the air: FSU produced only 125 passing yards while allowing Kevin Jennings to throw for 430. Now comes Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide improved to 2-0 with a 45-17 road win at Kentucky, powered by a second-half surge. Alabama’s Kentucky win That result helps explain why a spread that opened around Alabama -15.5 has moved toward -17.5. Still, this is where perception can outrun price. Florida State already played Alabama last season and won 31-17. That does not guarantee anything in 2026, but it does remove some of the psychological mystery around facing the Tide. At +20.5, Florida State was extremely attractive. That number is largely gone. At +18 or +18.5, I still prefer the Seminoles, but with considerably less enthusiasm. Betting lean: Florida State +18 or better Prediction: Alabama 31, Florida State 17 Alabama can look clearly superior and still fail to cover. Those are two different questions, which bettors occasionally remember only after the final whistle. LSU-Ole Miss Is the Week’s Best Market-Movement Story Forget the rankings for a moment. This game is fascinating before anyone blocks a defensive end. Ole Miss opened as roughly a 1.5-point favorite on one major consensus board. LSU then moved through pick’em and reached -2.5. Other sportsbooks have continued to hang Ole Miss around -2.5. That kind of disagreement is a warning against pretending there is one magical “market number.” Then add Lane Kiffin. Kiffin became LSU’s head coach after winning 55 games in six seasons at Ole Miss, including an 11-1 regular season in 2025. Kiffin’s LSU tenure Now his first LSU team walks into Vaught-Hemingway against the program he built. Subtle environment, then. LSU beat Louisiana Tech 45-14 last weekend, while Ole Miss handled Charlotte 41-9. Both enter this matchup unbeaten. My preference is LSU, but the sportsbook matters enormously here. Betting lean: LSU +2.5 if available Prediction: LSU 31, Ole Miss 27 If your book instead has LSU -2.5, I would not chase four points of market difference simply because I like the Tigers. At that price, the better decision may be no bet. Which Week 3 Favorite Has Become Too Expensive? Miami is the easiest answer. The Hurricanes may be the safest straight-up winner of the three, but they are also approaching the point where bettors are being charged heavily for two spectacular performances. Alabama is different. Its spread has increased, but the move from -15.5 to roughly -17.5 still leaves room for a Tide team that appears capable of separating late. LSU-Ole Miss barely fits the “favorite” discussion because sportsbooks themselves disagree about which team belongs in that role. That makes line shopping more than a cliché this week. Broader betting coverage is useful context when numbers are moving this aggressively. Week 3 Is a Price Test, Not a Power Ranking The best college football Week 3 predictions are not necessarily bets on the teams we believe are strongest. Miami is playable around -20.5, but not at any number the market invents. Florida State becomes interesting once the spread reaches +18. LSU is my preferred side in Oxford, but only if the book still gives the Tigers points. That leaves the final card straightforward: Miami -20.5 or better, Florida State +18 or better, and LSU +2.5 wherever that number remains available. The teams have already shown us who they might be. Week 3 is about deciding how much we’re willing to pay for believing them.
