What Does NFL Week 5 Have for Pro Bettor?Onto this week, and for a couple of weeks now, I have been wondering if this week would be the perfect spot for the Cleveland Browns.I must confess that I have been getting ready to oppose the Washington Commanders for some time now. Last week I was very tempted to for their road trip to Arizona, and luckily I didn’t, as they demolished the Cardinals 42-14 to keep their good run going! Part of the reason I didn’t, was that I had in mind that this week was a better spot to oppose them with the Cleveland Browns. The Commanders’ offence has been exceptional thus far in the season, which has masked issues they have in defence and that I believed the Browns could expose. Can the Cleveland Browns Expose Those Defensive Frailties? As it stands, this week is a “must-win” on many levels for the Browns. Their season stands at 1-3, but their offence is banged up badly with Nick Chubb’s long-term absence leaving a hole in their running game, although he is rumoured to return to training soon.It is rumoured running back David Njoku is better than a 50% chance to play this week and the Browns look forced to play him for the “must-win” match, which would be huge for Cleveland’s chances. Are the Total Points the Way To Bet This Week? With the doubts surrounding the Browns’ offence, the total points make a ton of sense currently with the number set at 44.5, one below the magic number of 45.The total has already jumped two points from 42.5, so be quick at the NFL betting sites that have 44.5 currently because, if the news of a Njoku return comes out, that number will go up further.NFL Week 5 PickBrowns / Commanders Over 44.5 (-115) at BetOnline An Early Revisit to AFC North Is RequiredIn my futures portfolio article that looked at the AFC North, I mentioned that there was a good chance we would revisit the division for value and, indeed, that is the case before NFL Week 5.After a slow start to the year, the Baltimore Ravens found themselves immediately under pressure but there are encouraging signs that the mythical “gun to the head” has enabled them and sparked their season into life. Before the Dallas Cowboys game in week 3, the Ravens re-found their offensive identity. Lamar Jackson stated when interrupting head coach Jim Harbaugh in the post-match press conference that the right side of the offensive line was something they had been working hard on in practice. We know that Harbaugh is one of the most respected coaches in the NFL, and his relationship with Jackson has always been one of the best in the NFL, so it appears the Ravens are back to doing what they do best after last weekend’s drubbing of the Buffalo Bills! What Markets Appeal to the Ravens? It’s quite possible that the Pittsburgh Steelers have exceeded expectations in their first three games of 2024, as sports outcomes, much like betting, are subject to variance, and their performance may likely regress. The Cincinnati Bengals are the opposite, as they had a nightmare start before last week’s first win at their fourth attempt in 2024.This weekend, the Bengals play the Ravens and, if Baltimore sees them off, there will only be blue skies ahead at the M&T Bank Stadium. Even if they don’t, the Ravens look like the best long-term bet to win the division. The result of an unexpected start to the AFC North means we can still bet on the Baltimore Ravens winning the division at just less than even money.Pro Bettor PickRavens to Win AFC North (-135) at Bovada You Might Also Like NFL Week 1 Odds: 3 Favorites Facing Real Danger NLDS Game 3 Betting: Dodgers-Braves, Brewers-Padres What Is Snooker & How to Start Betting on It Timberwolves vs. Spurs Odds: Why The +10.5 Line Is Raising Eyebrows Craig Edwards Craig Edwards, an online tipster in golf and snooker for over four years, boasts a track record of 7800 bets with a 28% return on investment.
