Agatha All Along

Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) expanded to series on Disney+, fans have been divided on the quality of the shows. But a series that was widely loved was WandaVision (2021), and now it is set to get its own spin-off series with Agatha All Along as part of Phase Five of the MCU.

In case you forgot, Agatha Harkness is the witch character played by versatile actress Kathryn Hahn, who is known for Step Brothers, Parks and Recreation, Bad Moms, Private Life, The Shrink Next Door, and Tiny Beautiful Things.

This series was given a greenlight in 2021, so it has taken some time to come together for release, but we are only a few months away from seeing its debut.

Before betting on the series at top-rated sportsbooks, here is everything we know so far about Agatha All Along.

Agatha All Along: From the Creator of WandaVision

Spin-offs can be tough to pull off when fans have the expectations of the original, but it can help when the show’s creator is the same person.

WandaVision was created by Jac Schaeffer, and she is back to run the spin-off series Agatha All Along as head writer and lead director. Schaeffer is an MCU pro at this point as she also co-wrote the story of the Black Widow (2021) film.

One thing that wasn’t nailed down all along was the title, as several ideas were workshopped before they finally settled on Agatha All Along in May 2024. That is a reference to the song “Agatha All Along” that was featured in the “Breaking the Fourth Wall” episode of WandaVision where we learned that Agnes, the nosy neighbor of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, was actually Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch.

What Type of Show Will Agatha All Along Be?

Taking place after the events of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness is now a powerless witch after breaking out of containment in Westview, New Jersey. She must seek the help of some unexpected allies in other witches without a coven to regain her powers.

The writing room has already compared the show to the Disney+ series Loki in the way that it will now follow an anti-hero while providing more inspection of their character than we got from their other appearances in the MCU.

Agatha All Along figures to be a dark comedy to make the best use of Hahn’s abilities, but it should also be dramatic at times too, as WandaVision got once the sitcom narrative episodes changed into something deeper and darker.

Executive producer Brad Winderbaum has called it a “Halloween show” that will have a “Marvel brand of scary.” Actress Debra Jo Rupp (That ’70s Show) has described it as another season of WandaVision in an anthology sense a la American Horror Story.

Who Is Part of the Cast for Agatha All Along?

Kathryn Hahn has been attached since the beginning to return as the witch Agatha Harkness. She received a lot of glowing reviews for her performance in WandaVision, which produced at least one viral meme from her:

There are several actors who appeared in WandaVision that will also be in Agatha All Along:

  • Debra Jo Rapp played Mrs. Hart in WandaVision and will play Sharon Davis, a witch in Agatha’s new coven.
  • Emma Caulfield Ford and David Payton played Dottie and Phil Jones in WandaVision, and they will play married couple Sarah and Harold Proctor in Agatha All Along.
  • Kate Forbes will again play Agatha’s mother Evanora Harkness.

There are of course some new main characters as well.

  • The always entertaining Aubrey Plaza, a Parks and Recreation star, joins the show as Rio Vidal, a dagger-wielding witch.
  • Musical theater legend Patti LuPone will play Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old Sicilian witch who will likely help with some of the planned musical moments in the series.
  • Joe Locke, famous for playing Charlie on Netflix’s dramedy Heartstopper, is going to be the familiar – similar to Guillermo on What We Do in the Shadows – and is described as a gay teen with a dark sense of humor who will be the male lead in the series.
  • Former Saturday Night Live star and comedian Sasheer Zamata will play Jennifer Kale, a sorceress.
  • Ali Ahn (The Diplomat) will play Alice, another witch in Agatha’s coven.

When Will Agatha All Along Be Released?

After numerous delays and changes in title, Agatha All Along is finally going to release with a 2-episode premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024. After that, the final 7 episodes will run weekly with the finale on November 6, 2024, just in time for the Halloween season that the show hopes to take full advantage of this year.

All episodes will be available on Disney+, and the full season of WandaVision is also available there now if you need to catch up before Agatha All Along starts this fall.
