Oasis Reunion: Everything You Need to Know

Oasis

In case you are uninformed, Oasis is a well-known band that people have been listening to for over 30 years now. If the name of the music group isn’t ringing any bells, then you are surely familiar with its most well-known song, “Wonderwall,” which they released in 1995 and is still played on the radio today.

An English group, Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991. Over the years, there have been many different members. Most joined the group and then left at some point. However, two members were with Oasis from the very beginning and were always a part of the group. These two are the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel.

Liam is the lead singer while Noel is the lead guitarist. To be more specific and technical, Liam predates Noel because Liam was with the band before it was actually called Oasis. Liam joined a group called The Rain, which, he suggested, should change its name to Oasis. Soon after, Noel joined.

Before betting on their upcoming tour at online sportsbooks, let’s take a closer look at the band’s history and its main long-time obstacles.

Years of In-Fighting

Oasis’ split in 2009 must have felt inevitable. This is because band members had, for years, fought amongst each other. Indeed, their fighting was so unique and interesting that, even before their band grew famous, it was the topic of headlines.

In 1994, for example, Oasis was performing in Los Angeles where, while still onstage, Liam smacked his brother on the head with a tambourine. This incident compelled Noel to quit the band, although he returned shortly after. It’s not always clear why they fought. In the tambourine incident, for example, Liam was inebriated and, in that condition, disposed to get under his brother’s skin.

The next year, in 1995, an incident occurred where the cause for conflict was more transparent and concrete, although it definitely involved an overreaction. Noel was working on a song when Liam, unannounced, brought strangers to watch his brother work. Noel, in response, took a cricket bat and hit him in the head.

Anger

All of these incidents, of which there are many more to describe, reveal a lot about the temperament of some of the different band members.

In the year of their break-up, 2009, Noel reportedly called his brother one of the angriest men that one could ever meet. However, as the cricket bat incident suggests, Noel had quite the temper himself. It would be accurate, but also an understatement, to say that the reason for their break-up was years of bickering.

They repeatedly fought in the verbal and physical senses of the word. Before their breakup, the fighting got so bad that the brothers would travel to shows separately. At some point in 2009, they simply stopped performing together.

Members of a music group need to have a good enough relationship with each other in order to perform together. The members of Oasis did not have that relationship.

Back Together

Given this long history of fighting with each other, it should not surprise anybody that Oasis is back together.

While it is, on the one hand, understandable how they could grow so sick of each other, they’ve also, on the other hand, been able to perform with each other so many times over the course of so many years despite having fought with each other so bitterly and intensely.

The brothers, however, have not explained why they decided to get the group back together.

There is speculation that the motivation for the reunion is financial. The tour on which they will go will net them hundreds of millions of dollars. For that much money, it is surely worth enduring some antics and exercising the restraint that is necessary to tolerate unlikable people. However, the Gallagher brothers also had several people, including their mother, encourage them to mend their differences. Personal intervention surely played a role.

Tour Info

If you want to see Oasis, you’ll have to spend much more money than was initially advertised. This is because the demand to see Oasis is immense.

Oasis’ tour will take place next Summer. Dates and venues have been announced for their performances in the UK and Ireland. The band has also said that it will announce dates and venues for its performances outside of the UK and Ireland.

So, Oasis may be coming to you soon, and, if you like their music, you should consider taking advantage because opportunities to see the popular band are limited.
