Taylor Momsen’s Acting Career

In case you are uninformed, Taylor Momsen is a famous American model, singer, and actress. After she was born in 1993, she began her acting career at the age of three.

Just when she was mastering the art of walking, she acted in a nationally broadcast commercial for Shake-N-Bake. Her acting career would skyrocket from there: as she got older, she landed bigger roles.

A few years later, in 2000, her first significant role came. She played Cindy Lou in the movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas. This movie is most well-known because it starred comedy legend Jim Carrey.

While she landed roles in other movies, such as Hansel & Gretel and Spy Kids II, she also acted in different television shows.

Her most well-known television role was in the popular series Gossip Girl. In this series, she played Jenny Humphrey. However, over the course of this series, her role grew smaller and eventually, she left the series altogether. She says that leaving was her choice.

However, the truth is much more complicated. Rumors have circulated, for example, that she was difficult to work with. While she may be disinclined to disclose the full truth behind her departure, her explanation that she wanted to devote herself to pursuing her music career checks out.

After leaving Gossip Girl, she cultivated success in the music industry.

From Child Actor to Musician

Momsen’s music endeavor started to gain strong promise while she was acting in Gossip Girl. In 2009, she connected with producer Kato Khandwala and songwriter Ben Phillips. They found that her band, which she formed in the same year, was pretty good.

She also established for herself that she really loved working in a recording studio. Momsen was the lead singer of her band, Pretty Reckless.

When she left Gossip Girl, she focused on finishing the first album of her band, which was released in 2010. This debut album was popular around the world, paving the way for her band to perform in international venues.

Taylor Momsen’s Adversity

As her music career progressed, Momsen faced some adversity.

In 2017, her friend and fellow musician Chris Cornell committed suicide. Taken completely by surprise, she had difficulty processing his death.

Already struggling with this loss, she suffered soon after yet another terrible and tragic loss when Kato Khandwala, who she had gotten close to, died. After this second loss, she fell into a horrible mental state: she was suffering from depression and substance abuse.

Eventually, she would learn to lean on music to get her out of her hole. With her band, she would continue to find success as a musician.

Her Latest Adversity

Her latest obstacle is frustrating, to be sure, but it could not have felt nearly as bad as losing two close friends. This obstacle does have a lasting effect in the rather facetious sense that she gained a new nickname from it.

Momsen is now known as “batgirl.” You can see a recording of the incident on YouTube. What happened is that she was performing in Sevilla, Spain, where her band was opening for rock legends AC/DC.

During her performance, a bat landed on her. Audience members were screaming and pointing, clearly aware of the danger here: bats are wild animals and, because they are removed from the confines of our civilization, present a danger to humans.

While not all bats have rabies, some of them do, and you never know in advance which ones do.

However, if a bat (or another wild animal) attacks you, then it may be more probable that that bat suffers from rabies because rabies might incline animals to attack other animals or humans.

The bat that landed on Momsen during her performance clung to her with determination and ferocity. Eventually, it bit her.

Momsen’s Good Spirits

When the bat first landed on her, Momsen was not even aware of it. She was in the flow of things, focusing on her performance. After some time passed, she became aware that audience members were trying to focus her attention on the bat. Seeing the bat, she did not panic.

The song that she was performing at the time was called “Witches Burn,” so she jokingly stated that she must really be a witch.

After kindly saying that the bat was cute, she observes that, after the bat bit her, she had to go to the hospital in order to be treated for rabies. She needed rabies shots for two weeks. While getting these shots must be anything but fun, contracting rabies is definitely even less fun.

While at the hospital, hospital staff named her “batgirl” after they saw a report of her incident with the bat on the morning news.
