Following his US Presidential Election win, Donald Trump swooped in and took the 2024 Time’s award. Now, with a year back in the hot seat, everyone’s favorite republican could see his political dominance and influence assist him in taking the prestigious Time’s award in consecutive years!

At the time of writing, Trump holds an implied probability of 32.3% based on the odds at the sportsbooks for Time Person of the Year, although Elon Musk, with a price of +340, isn’t far behind!

Are you shocked that Trump is topping the odds again? Presidential leaders have been a common theme in Time’s past awards, and with his consistent presence in media headlines, for better or for worse, he’s always ready and willing to make an impact.

Should Trump win the award in 2025, it will be his hat-trick following his winning years in 2016 and 2024.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk continues to be the star of the show in this market, now strutting around as the 4/1 second favourite for TIME’s 2025 pick!

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is at it again, stealing the spotlight in the world of innovation! From the newest buzz in AI and xAI to his grand dreams of colonising Mars, not to mention his headline-grabbing management of social platform X (previously known as Twitter), he’s certainly keeping us all on our toes!

In 2021, TIME crowned Musk as Person of the Year, and oh boy, his influence is still going strong! With yet another exciting Neuralink announcement on the horizon and his rising influence in the AI and energy realms, he’s definitely a player to watch, particularly if global tech and innovation trends shape the year.

AI is a Longshot

Speaking of tech trends and innovation, the robots are contending for the award as Artificial Intelligence makes its second appearance as a potential Time’s Person winner.

Of course, there’s an obvious setback here: How would awarding a Person of the Year award to a non-person go down?

AI fell short in the 2024 race, but with the continuous evolution of this groundbreaking tech, you can never say never!

Outsiders Are Always Live

As a decade-plus leader of China’s Communist Party, Xi Jinping put himself in this year’s running due to his country’s role in international policy, among other touchy subjects. In addition, the always popular Joe Rogan is a fellow dark horse due to his efforts in leading alternative media throughout the years.

While the odds usually indicate the winner, it’s important to note that the dark horses always have a chance. When you consider that nobody in the history of the Time Person of the Year award has won in consecutive years, fading Trump feels like the wise move for bettors to make.

And let’s be honest, if Adolf Hitler won the award (1938), anyone who has had enough influence and impact on the world could do so!
