PS5 Xbox

The console wars of yesteryears no longer exist; sorry, Microsoft and Xbox fans, but the debate over which console is better – PS5 & Xbox – has become an incredibly lopsided argument.

Recent reports from Take-Two Interactive show that the PlayStation 5 has sold almost twice as many copies as the Xbox Series X | S, according to figures cited by GameSpot.

As of December 31, 2023, the gaming firm said in a single presentation that 77 million Gen 9 consoles had been sold. On December 20, 2023, Sony stated that it had sold just over 50 million PS5s, which doesn’t tell us anything on its own. Typically, Microsoft keeps its sales figures under wraps; however, using the data provided by Take-Two, we may estimate that the Xbox Series X | S has sold around 27 million units.

This latest sales report provides an approximation of Gen 9’s current status. Sony said in July last year that 40 million copies of their most recent PlayStation system were sold, which was still going strong. Reports indicated that Xbox Series X | S sales were slightly over 21 million at a gaming event in Brazil around the same time.

What’s Coming for Xbox?

November 2020 saw the release of both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X | S. Last year; Sony upgraded their system with the Slim model. Although Microsoft has not yet released a mid-gen update for the Xbox Series X | S consoles, documents that have slipped out indicate that they may have plans to do so later this year.

With all the speculation over Xbox 9’s future, today’s update is worth looking into. Rumour has it that many Xbox exclusives, such as Indiana Jones, Starfield, Sea of Thieves, Great Circle, Sea of Thieves, and Hi-Fi Rush, would soon be available on rival consoles like PlayStation, according to several claims that have surfaced lately. Xbox boss Phil Spencer promised to address concerns in a business update next week after fans were horrified to hear that other platforms may soon get exclusive games.

Sales Aside, Is PS5 Better Than The Xbox Series X|S?

This new generation of consoles is completely different from the ones that came before it. Unlike previous generations, this one doesn’t introduce a plethora of exclusive titles or enable gaming at a higher resolution. Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X will need to find other methods to prove they are the next-gen king, but Sony’s system achieves this much better than Microsoft’s thus far.

However, that doesn’t mean the Xbox Series X isn’t an excellent system. The performance goals are met, the noise level is nearly non-existent, it is noticeably smaller than the PS5, and the controller has undergone some nice, albeit tiny, adjustments.

Presented in native 4K and HDR, the PlayStation 5’s dazzling new user interface will surely wow you the minute you power it up. It has brand-new haptic features that have revolutionized gaming and are included with the controller. Regardless of size or budget, anyone may access its brand-new 3D audio engine, and you also get a brand-new game that showcases all the features in the best possible light.

Although both systems are capable of Blu-ray players alongside streaming capabilities, they aren’t perfect. Serious gamers won’t tell the difference, so picking one over the other in this example isn’t really a viable option.

What this means is that, as it should, the PS5 wins out when it comes to gaming because it provides a true next-generation experience that surpasses expectations in every respect, not just resolution and refresh rate.
